They offer workshops and provide resources to equip airline employees with the necessary tools to enhance their skills. Additionally, they have accredited internal development programs and offer support for employees to pursue further education and earn professional qualifications. This commitment to employee growth is not limited to one airline; many airports and airlines offer similar initiatives as they compete to attract and retain the talent they need. Ticketing / Gate Agent

Ticketing and gate agents are the “face” of the airlines, assisting customers with flight reservations and addressing issues related to flight details and luggage. Customer service representatives at airports or airlines respond to special requests, help passengers track lost baggage, and provide information about airport services and participating airlines. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle disgruntled passengers are essential in this role. Flight attendants greet passengers as they board, guide them to their seats, and oversee the placement of carry-on items. After coordinating with the ground crew to ensure all passengers are boarded, they review safety procedures and ensure compliance with airline regulations. Flexibility is crucial, as flight attendants often work variable schedules and may be assigned to overnight flights.

Mechanic and Technician

Aircraft and Avionics Equipment Mechanics and Technicians are responsible for repairing and performing scheduled maintenance on aircraft. They diagnose mechanical or electrical issues, replace defective parts, review safety checklists, document problems, and update maintenance records.

Air Traffic Controllers hold highly specialized positions that require extensive technical training to accurately track air activity and guide aircraft routes to ensure safe airline transportation. They manage ground traffic at airports and oversee aircraft takeoffs and landings.

Transportation Security Officers screen passengers, baggage, and cargo at airports to prevent dangerous or prohibited items from being brought onto an aircraft.

Airline Cargo Handling Supervisors manage the ground crew responsible for loading, unloading, securing, and staging aircraft cargo and baggage. They must possess strong logical and mathematical skills to determine the aircraft’s center of gravity and coordinate the safe stowage of cargo.

Food Service Workers are responsible for running the restaurants and food concessions at the airport. Their duties include preparing and cooking menu items, stocking shelves, taking and fulfilling customer orders, cleaning restaurant and kitchen areas, operating registers, and handling payments.

Retail Sales Workers are employed at various retail, clothing, and gift stores within airports, where they aim to attract passengers. They stock shelves, arrange displays, offer product recommendations, and process sales transactions.

Wheelchair Transporters and People Movers assist passengers with mobility needs. Wheelchair operators help disabled passengers travel between airport gates, while people movers operate conveyances that transport individuals or small groups of passengers throughout the airport.
