The construction timeline for these airports depends on factors such as land acquisition, mandatory clearances, and financial closures by the operators. In Maharashtra, the tendering process has been completed for some projects, with M/s. MIAL being the highest bidder.
Additionally, MoCA has received proposals for Greenfield Airports at locations like Ankleshwar and Rajkot in Gujarat; Bhiwadi (Alwar) and Shivdaspur (Jaipur) in Rajasthan; Dagadarthi, Bhogapuram, Tadepalligudem, Oravakallu, and Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh; Chingleput near Chennai in Tamil Nadu; Gwalior and Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh; Hisar in Haryana; Kothagudem in Telangana; Noida International Airport near Jewar and Saifai in Uttar Pradesh; and Karwar and Chikmagalur in Karnataka. Site clearance approvals have been granted for airports at Bhiwadi, Kothagudem, Rajkot, and Noida, while ‘in principle’ approval has been given for Dagadarthi, Bhogapuram, and Oravakallu. The development of these airports highlights a significant step in enhancing India’s aviation infrastructure.
